The Accra High Court has dismissed an application filed by Ghanaian businessman and socialite Fredrick Kum, popularly known as Abu Trica, clearing the way for his extradition to the United States.

Abu Trica’s lawyers had asked the High Court to overturn an earlier ruling by the Gbese District Court, which approved his extradition.

However, on 2 July 2026, the High Court rejected the application and upheld the lower court’s decision.

Y’all know that Abu Trica is wanted in the US over allegations of wire fraud and money laundering linked to romance scam that defrauded elderly victims of more than $8 million.

He was granted bail of GH¢30 million by the Accra High Court in April 2026 and was released in May after meeting the bail conditions.

With the Accra High Court dismissing his latest application, Ghanaian authorities can now move forward with the extradition process.#thebbcghana
